Last night, the Cardinals snatched an 11-5 victory over the Braves that secured a series victory over Atlanta. On the bump this afternoon for the Cardinals is RHP Andre Pallante (9-5, 3.83 ERA), who despite having an otherwise excellent 2026 season in the rotation, had an awful start last time around against Miami in St. Louis. In that start, Pallante went 6.2 IP, allowing 11 hits, 5 earned runs. That has largely been the exception for Pallante this year, and this afternoon up at Wrigley it surely needs to be for the Redbirds to succeed. Taking the ball for the Cubs on this afternoon slate is the 30 year old LHP David Peterson (4-6, 5.86 ERA), who has not been stellar for the Northsiders, Peterson has gone in and out of the rotation periodically, including longer spells working out of the bullpen for the Cubs. It remains to be seen how effective - even as a left hander - that he will be this afternoon against the left handed heavy Cardinals lineup. Will Andre Pallante put his most recent start against Miami firmly behind him? How will David Peterson fare against a Cardinals lineup that hits very effectively on the road? Join Paul D. for the play by play, with first pitch scheduled for 3:05 PM CST at Wrigley Field.
