I didn't compose it as an intro theme, with the "Water, Earth, Fire, Air" narration, but rather as a character theme for both Pavi and the world it takes place in.From the pitch we know that this show will be fiorentina vs genoa set during some kind of post-apocalypse, after Korra's time. When the art got revealed it looked like one of those more fantastical post-apocalypses to me like Breath of the Wild, so that's the vibe I wanted to go with in the first section. In the second section I wanted to put a bigger focus on the action that usually comes with Avatar, and bring home the jack shepherd grand and mythical nature of thew orld. In the final section I tried to express the somberness and heaviness of the post-apocalypse.Now some music nerd stuff: I used a string, percussion and woodwind setting for the orchestra, leaving out horns as I didn't want to go too grand. I also included some Asian instruments akin to the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra. I let myself be inspired by the pentatonic scale (not to emulate Asian music, as it's got way more to offer than the pentatoni scale, but because I think it's open and ambiguous mood really fits the setting). I also employed my new favourite mode: phrygian, my beloved. It also creates this immense grand and heavy tone that I think really fits here. Also used a new style of visualiser. I composed this in Musescore 4, so I thought why not use the sheet music!
